Closed lane because of accident. As the car was now travelling very slowly and with air con, the range has been compromised somewhat. A change of strategy was required ...

Bumper to bumper as a result of an accident on the Geelong road. After about 15 minutes of bumper to bumper I noticed that the predicted range had dropped to -1%.
This could mean I would have to drop my speed once this traffic cleared and/or I may need to use wpapua's kind offer of some charge from his Tesla home charger (Warrnambool), if needed, to complete my journey. The trip home from the Richmond Supercharger to Portland involved careful planning in that I should drive normally and resist the temptation to utilize the cars potential. A distance of about 360 km with a full charge initially showing a range of 403 km.
Just 18 km into the trip and there was bumper to bumper traffic (red highlight on road). I later noticed that this was the result of a car accident, closing down 1 lane. The bottom trip display shows I have used ~5% of the battery and at the end of the journey it predicts I'll have ~5% of usable battery charge remaining. The Model S interior is quite unique and dominated by the 17" screen which contains the vehicle setting and controls.
What's the pink folder all about? Visited Michelle and Matt, Taj & Koby for a couple of days while I was in Melbourne. Had to do 'Insane'.
Picked up my Model S at Richmond Service Centre on Wednesday 30th September. Really happy with the car, wish I could have shared it with Betty.
HPWC - High Powered Wall Connector.
R&M Menzel installed my HPWC today, just in time before I head off to collect my Model S. Good to hear that Peter Mac is installing 2 HPWC at the 'Richmond Henty' in Portland. I guess they are hoping to pickup some through traffic from the Great Ocean Road. I've had 2 requests from fellow 'Teslans' for some juice, so maybe he can do some business for overnight stays. Got word from my Delivery Specialist that my car is in Melbourne and will be ready to pick up next week.
At last ...! So train to Melbourne, leave Portland at 4:30 AM to arrive at Southern Cross station at 9:30 AM. Then on to Cremorne (Richmond) Service Centre to get the car. This is the current status of Superchargers for the Tesla in Australia. Elon has indicated that the link between Melbourne and Sydney was planned to be completed by the end of 2015 and between Sydney and Brisbane by the end of 2016. There has been no indication of the next route to get Superchargers. There is another Supercharger to go in Gundagai.
A Supercharger can provide up to 270 km of range within 1/2 hour. Time enough to grab a coffee and have a toilet break. |
